2001 British Flowers Calendar cross stitch pattern booklet With designs from Mary Hickmott and Anchor Includes 12 new and exclusive floral cross stitch designs, one for each month of the year A Year of Flowers The flowers that we are able to grow in the gardens of Britain are so diverse as to be the envy of many other countries. From tiny, delicate plants to large showy ones, there is always something in bloom. Our 2001 calendar captures just a few of these as they visit us each month. The individual flower motifs, stitched in the vibrant shades of the Anchor palette, can be worked alone without their borders then used in CARDS for birthdays or to make wonderful SMALL PICTURES for presents. Different shades of background fabric serve to further enhance the quality of the colours and show them to their best advantage. In addition, each design has a border area to stitch in one of a VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES using some of the wonderful other threads from the Anchor range or distributed by Coats Crafts UK. These versatile, quality threads - Marlitt, Pearls, Coton a Broder and metallic offer such a variety of thickness and colour that the combinations in which they can be used is endless. The BORDER DESIGNS ARE INTERCHANGEABLE too. Although each flower is shown with a particular border, you can choose one of the others if you prefer and, generally, WORK ON THE COUNT OF FABRIC THAT YOU LIKE BEST. All the flower designs can be worked on AIDA or EVENWEAVE fabric, as can the border designs, with the exception of the PULLED WORK and HARDANGER ones (April and October) which require an evenweave fabric. So much to enjoy, so many beautiful threads and a WHOLE YEAR OF PLEASURE. Have fun! - Mary Hickmott Some shelf wear
